Short Information: The National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has published the official notification for the recruitment of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A (Group-B S&T, Non-Gazetted). A total of 376 vacancies have been announced (Advt. No. NIC/STA/2026/2). Eligible candidates possessing an M.Sc, MCA, B.E., or B.Tech degree along with a valid GATE score (2024, 2025, or 2026) can apply online from 01 September 2026 to 30 September 2026. Notably, the selection is strictly based on the GATE score with no written exam and no interview.   • Degree Requirement: Passed M.Sc. / MS / MCA / B.E. / B.Tech in any of the following fields: Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Sciences, Computer and Networking Security, Software System, Information Technology, Informatics.
  • GATE Requirement: Must possess a valid GATE Score in the relevant paper corresponding to the discipline (GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026).
  • Experience: No prior work experience is required (Freshers are eligible).
  • Pay Scale: Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 - ₹1,12,400) under 7th CPC.

NIC STA-A Selection Process (Direct GATE Recruitment)

The recruitment process for Scientific/Technical Assistant-A is highly streamlined. There will be NO written examination and NO interview.

  • GATE Merit List: Selection will be based strictly on the valid GATE Score of the candidate. A category-wise merit list will be prepared for each discipline in descending order of GATE marks.
  • Valid GATE Years: Scores from GATE 2024, GATE 2025, and GATE 2026 will carry equal weightage. If a candidate holds multiple scores, they must submit their highest score.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates from the merit list will be called directly for document verification in Delhi before the final offer of appointment.
